How Much Does a Brick Mailbox Cost in Tampa Bay?

Real 2026 pricing for brick mailboxes in Tampa Bay and Citrus County: what drives the cost, what to watch out for, and how to get the most curb appeal per dollar.

A brick mailbox is one of those upgrades that costs less than people expect and changes the whole first impression of a house. We build them all over Tampa Bay and Citrus County, so here is the honest pricing breakdown.

The short answer

In the Tampa Bay area, a standard brick mailbox installed by a mason typically runs $650 to $1,400. A larger mailbox with stone accents, a concrete cap, and a premium mailbox insert lands between $1,400 and $2,500. Full entry pillars flanking a driveway start around $1,800 per pair and go up from there depending on size and stone.

Those are installed prices: footing, brick, mortar, cap, mailbox insert, and cleanup. If someone quotes you $300 for a brick mailbox, they are either not pouring a footing or not coming back if it leans.

What drives the cost

Size and design. A simple single-column brick mailbox is the baseline. Double-wide columns, arches, stone veneer faces, and decorative caps each add material and labor.

The mailbox insert. A basic steel box is cheap. A locking cast-aluminum insert with your house number runs $150 to $400 on its own, and it is worth it. The insert is the part you touch every day.

The footing. Florida's sandy soil moves. A proper mailbox gets a concrete footing below grade, not bricks stacked on dirt. This is the invisible part that separates a mailbox that lasts decades from one that leans by next summer. We never skip it.

Access and old mailbox removal. If we are tearing out a crumbling old mailbox and hauling it away, that adds a little. If your HOA has design requirements, we handle the paperwork side with a written spec.

Brick vs. stone vs. stucco

Brick is the classic Tampa Bay choice: it matches the region's older homes, it ages gracefully, and repairs are straightforward. Stone veneer over a block core gives a more upscale look for about 20 to 30 percent more. Stucco over block is cheapest but needs repainting every several years in Florida sun.

Our recommendation for most homes: real brick, concrete cap, quality insert. It looks right in every neighborhood from Seminole Heights to Inverness, and it holds value.

What to watch out for

The most common failure we get called to fix is a mailbox with no footing. It looks fine for a year, then it tilts. By year three it is falling over. Fixing it means tearing it down and starting over, which costs more than doing it right the first time.

The second most common issue: mailboxes built too close to the road without checking USPS setback guidance. We set every mailbox to the standard setback so your carrier can reach it and the county is happy.

How long does it take?

A standard brick mailbox is usually a two-day job: footing and block work on day one, brick and cap on day two, with the insert set once everything cures. Larger pillar projects run three to five days.

The bottom line

A brick mailbox is one of the highest curb-appeal-per-dollar upgrades you can make, and in this market it photographs beautifully for listings.
